The South Delridge Community Group merged with the Highland Park Action Committee in May. This newly-formed neighborhood organization consists of South Delridge, Highland Park and Riverview. We have yet to come up with a name for the group. Maybe you have a suggestion? Let us know! But for now, we will go under HPAC: Neighbors Advocating For South Delridge, Riverview & Highland Park Communities and use HPAC’s website and email in future communications. Make sure to look at the HPAC website: hpacinfo.wordpress.com. There’s all kinds of good information on it. If you’re on the SDCG’s email list, you’ll now be receiving monthly newsletters from the HPAC email address. There is a new day, time and place for you to meet with your neighbors to discuss and work on relevant concerns and issues for our neighborhoods.
So mark your calendars! We will meet on the fourth Wednesday for three more months in 2019: June 26, September 25 and October 23.
All meetings will be at 7pm at the Highland Park Improvement Club located at 1116 SW Holden St.
The June 26th meeting will include the Southwest Precincts’s MCPP (micro community policing plans). Every year, SPD holds focus groups to supplement the annual Seattle Public Safety Survey in order to collect real time information from each neighborhood. The focus groups involve participation from community members in an hour-long discussion regarding community perceptions of crime, safety, and police legitimacy.
Before we begin this new phase, I would like to pause and thank my fellow South Delridge neighbors for supporting and participating in SDCG these past 3 years. And though many neighbors have volunteered, there has been a core of individuals who gave their time and effort to give South Delridge a voice within the city of Seattle. They deserve recognition and our thanks. Thank you to Mark Contratto. He initially brought us all together, welcomed us into his home and was so integral in forming SDCG. Many thanks to Mary Schlichter and Connie Wolf who organized countless clean-up efforts these past three years. They introduced so many neighbors to one another- not only are our streets cleaner but also friendlier! Thank you to Mike and Amy Riedel for all your efforts in organizing this group and helping the neighborhood in too many ways to list here. If I have forgotten anyone, my apologies. But come to the next meeting and we’ll give a shout out. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the June 26th meeting!
